Employee Safety Performance
The company has developed a strong, proactive approach to health and safety, backed by committed senior management, and subsidiary and facility-level teams. Through our Senior Management Safety Challenge, Anheuser-Busch facilities achieved our lowest total injury rate ever – 18 percent lower than our 2006 goal. Anheuser-Busch breweries support a comprehensive approach to wellness in the home and workplace. Our Ability for Life program stresses the importance of health-conscious decisions and provides valuable tools and information for employees and their families.
- Total Injury Rate for 2006 was 3.81 per 100 employees, a 6 percent decrease from 2005 and 70 percent from 1991.* Our goal was 4.66.
- Lost Time Injury Rate was 0.45; this is down 17 percent from 2005 and 87 percent from 1991.*
- Total Lost Work Days were 9,516, nearly 30 percent of which came from the inclusion of Harbin Group data for 2006.
* 2006 safety data include Harbin except for 1991 to 2006 data comparisons in order to allow for accurate comparisons.

Each subsidiary establishes priorities and strategies based on overall corporate goals. One example of how our facilities support the company's safety goal was the Columbus brewery’s Summer Safety Challenge. During the 62 days of July and August the brewery had only one recordable injury compared to eight during the same two months in the previous year. The skills their employees learned during this period will be applied to everyday brewery activities.
